Sources and reading routes

The core source spine is the Naval History and Heritage Command, the National Archives and related official museum records. The source list below is intentionally short: a few strong records are more useful than a long shelf of unexamined links.

Archival folders, a Navy deck log and a catalog worksheet on a research table

The Internet Archive is used for route restoration, historical taxonomy and questions the former site placed in front of readers. Its availability does not grant the right to republish its text, captions or images.

Each article names the records that shaped its claims. Readers are encouraged to follow the source, compare the wording and send a correction when a locator or interpretation needs work.

Every article links to the entries below rather than scattering external references across the publication. This keeps the source trail readable, makes policy review simpler and gives each record one stable explanatory note.

Reading discipline

A strong source still has a limited job.

The ship history supports Phoebe-specific milestones. The Market Time study supports operation structure. Archive guides explain record formats and access. No source is asked to prove a different kind of claim merely because it is official.

For claim boundaries and revisions, read the methodology and the corrections route.
